Prof. Demola Akinyoade
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
UNESCO Chair on Peace and Citizenship · MIT Executive Certificate, No-Code AI & ML (in progress)Holder of the UNESCO Chair on Peace and Citizenship and, until his leave of absence to build this company, a university lecturer since 2008. The company is an operational realisation of a Peace Studies–derived theory of institutional design, in which the information asymmetries between citizens and institutions are treated as a primary source of institutional dysfunction.
Software architecture has been the constant beside that career for twenty-five years — not continuously practised, but returned to repeatedly, largely through formal study. Over that period he contributed to several projects on their structure and was sole architect of one. In 2009 he built a paper attendance and accountability register for his own classroom, which is the intellectual origin of what GENIE became. In mid-2025 he wrote the product requirements and the system architecture for the platform, and is the architect of what is now in production.

Information-systems audit is the discipline of establishing that a computing system does what it claims — which is this company’s subject matter.

Computer Science · cybersecurity certifiedOver ten years in radio network planning and optimisation, including with Huawei Technologies — coverage and capacity design, frequency planning, base station deployment and multi-vendor systems integration across distributed rollouts. She carries the company’s access register, credential management and incident procedures, and brings documented experience delivering digital skills training across Nigerian states.

Customer Service & Business Development
B.Sc. Accounting · Certificate in Management, Nigerian Institute of ManagementFifteen years in customer service, business development and client management, most of it inside the education sector rather than selling to it from outside. She has run admissions and parent relationships, marketed A-Level, OSSD, IFYP, SAT and TOEFL programmes, developed corporate and institutional accounts, and carried the accounting function across four institutions. She knows the internal reality of the institutions this company serves — who signs, who resists, and what a bursary can actually approve.
She works in Excel, SQL, Python and Power BI, which matters here: what GSLTech sells is a data product, and a commercial lead who can interrogate the data rather than only describe it holds better conversations with a Registrar.
Technical formation
Where the engineering came from
Institutional software is judged on whether the people who built it understand both the domain and the machine. Our founder read for a degree in geography and planning; the software came another way, and it came early.
In 2000 a friend reading computer science told him he would make a good programmer — on the strength of how he reasoned rather than anything he had written — and handed him a textbook on C++. C++ did not take. Java did. Introduced to it in 2001 by a friend the group called Java Sapien, he followed the language from Java 5.0 through 6.0 for the next six years, and in 2007 completed a formal course in software architecture. Over that period he contributed to four or five software projects, principally on their architecture, and was sole architect of one.
What followed was not a continuous engineering career. It was a subject he returned to — every few years, mostly through structured study, and always on the architectural side rather than the implementation. The through-line is how systems are shaped, not how many were shipped.
The study itself continued alongside a full academic career, and continues now.

Beyond its permanent staff, GSLTech maintains a standing panel of independent IT and sales professionals. It is how we bring specialist competence to a defined problem without carrying permanent capacity we cannot yet fully employ — while the Academy builds the in-house bench that progressively replaces it.

Every panel member signs a Master Services Agreement once, a Statement of Work per engagement, and a confidentiality and data protection undertaking executed before any system or data access is granted.
The bench
The Genesis Talent Academy
Most of our permanent engineering staff will come from our own pathway. The inaugural cohort launched in July 2026 across six specialisations; four Scholars are in post, and the remaining Scholar places and the Fellowships are open. They work on production systems under review rather than on exercises.
