How we handle personal data.

Genesis Systems Labs & Technologies Limited operates under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. This page describes how we handle data on this website, and how we handle it in the GENIE platform.

This website

What genesissystemslabs.com collects

This site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and contains no tracking scripts. It collects nothing about you.

Web fonts are served from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as a consequence of that request. If you would prefer that not to happen, the site remains fully readable with fonts blocked.

If you email us, we hold that correspondence in order to answer it, and for as long as our records require.

The GENIE platform

We are the processor. The institution is the controller.

Where an institution subscribes to GENIE, that institution remains the Data Controller for its students and staff. GSLTech acts as Data Processor on its instructions, under an executed data processing agreement.

Credentials

Passwords are hashed and never stored in recoverable form.

Biometrics

Templates are never transmitted to or stored on our servers. Matching happens entirely on the data subject’s own device.

Location

Coordinates are discarded the moment a geofence verdict is computed, and are never written to any record or log.

Access is role-scoped and enforced in software. Statistical suppression prevents any published aggregate from identifying an individual. Sub-processors: Google Cloud (Belgium) and Amazon Web Services (Ireland).

Your rights

Exercising a right under the Act

You may request access to your personal data, its correction, its erasure, or restriction of its processing, and you may object to processing or request portability.

If you are a student, lecturer or parent using GENIE at an institution, address your request to that institution in the first instance — it is the controller. We will support it in responding.

Otherwise, write to our Data Protection Officer, Barrister Olufemi Ogunnubi, at privacy@thegenieos.com. We respond within thirty days.

You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
